Pat originally began serving the Sorgho community in 1985. He moved away in 1991 and came back to the area in 1998. He progressed through the ranks and became Fire Chief in 2007. He was selected as Firefighter of the Year in 1999. Pat retired August 1, 2011 after a 20-year career with the Henderson Fire Department and a 13-year career with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office. He was appointed to the Kentucky Governor’s Fire Commission in 2007 and served until 2011. He has been employed by the Kentucky Fire Commission/State Fire Rescue Training in multiple capacities including Retention and Recruitment Program Coordinator, Director of State Fire Rescue Training, and Training Records and Compliance Specialist. He is currently the Coordinator of The Fire Academy of Kentucky. He holds IFSAC certifications of Firefighter I and II, HazMat Awareness and Operations, Fire Instructor I and II, and Fire Officer I. He is also an EMT and EMS Instructor. He has attended several out of state trainings to include New Mexico, Las Vegas, Alabama, and multiple trips to the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Pat has been the treasurer for the Green River Firefighters Association since 1995. He is a past-President of the Kentucky Firefighters Association, currently serves as the Vice-President at-large, and has been on the Executive Board for 10 years. He hosted the KFA Conference in 2019 and was inducted into the KFA Hall of Fame in 2024.
